BASKETBALL COACH | Auburn, WA

Kraken is a youth and adult sports club, providing education and competition in the sports of basketball, futsal, volleyball, baseball, and softball. Our home is the Fieldhouse USA located at the Outlet Collection Mall in Auburn. Kraken @ Fieldhouse has 8 volleyball / 7 basketball hardwood courts, an indoor baseball/softball training center, and Kraken Ink, a sports apparel and print store. The Auburn Fieldhouse also has a resident fitness gym, adventure park, and restaurant.

We are searching for experienced and passionate basketball coaches to join our club. We have coaching opportunities across the full age group range, minis, 2nd to 17U girls and boys teams. Kraken coaches foster great team culture and instill in their athletes the importance of being a good teammate. Fundamental understanding of basketball skills and how to instruct are of the utmost importance at Kraken. Coaches are expected to teach and train Kraken approved curriculum. Every practice must be executed with purposeful written practice plans that train towards team and athlete goals.  Coaches must complete monthly player discussions on progress towards personal and team goals. 

We invest in our staff with in-house coach education and mentoring, as well as support for the attendance of external clinics and conferences. We also support our coaches in their pursuit of AAU coaching certifications. 

Experience

  • 1-2+ years coaching club and or school teams
  • Strong proven experience instructing fundamental basketball skills
  • Basketball player who seeks to improve skills and competition level
  • Proven communicator comfortable with athlete, parent and leadership discussions
  • Track record creating positive competitive team cultures and learning environments
  • Experience coaching a basketball methodology in and across a club/school with multiple teams

Requirements

  • Background Clearance
  • AAU Coach Membership
  • AAU / Kraken Required Coach Certifications
  • Experience playing basketball in a competitive setting
  • Enthusiasm and passion for basketball and coaching youth
  • Valid State of Washington Driver's License and dependable transportation
  • Requirements must be met prior to tryouts
  • Exception is training that is yet to be scheduled

Time Commitment

  • 1.5-2.5 hours twice / weekly team practices
  • 2-3 tournaments / month | 1-3 days
  • 8am-10pm on tournament days
  • 3 day events may require air travel
  • Attendance of all practices and tournaments
  • Conflicts must be disclosed prior to accepting offer
  • Issues will result in reduced pay/termination

Camps, Clinics, Leagues & Lessons

There is also the opportunity to coach the below programs, whether it be an existing Kraken coach, or a coach that does not have the available time to commit to a full club team season. By working these programs, Kraken club team coaches earn pay in addition to our competitive club team coaching stipend. Coaches can also work as tournament directors and coordinators.
